A Residential Care Facility
Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) provides assistance in dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, medication, monitoring laundry, housekeeping, transportation, meals and planned activities in a home-like setting.

RCFE is for elderly who have physical problems associated with frailty, general weakness, recent surgery, recent hospitalization or inability to live alone.  The aging process means that older people take longer to recover after an illness, and they need extra assistance to regain their previous level of independence. 

Until very recently, the care options for older patients who had had an acute period of illness were very limited.  They were transferred to a nursing home or discharged home with limited or no community support.  Nursing homes are institutional in nature and it tend to encourage dependence rather than independence.  Discharging the patient home with limited or no community support often results in his or her deterioration and subsequent admission to acute hospital or nursing home.  For more information call (760) 371- 1989.
